The topic of the documentary series was the encounter between the present generation of students and successful individuals from various fields who at the time of the Velvet Revolution stood on the threshold of adulthood. The main goal of the project is to explore in an appealing way the fact that the freedom and democracy we have today cannot be taken for granted.

Thirty-two seven-minute-long portraits were filmed by both professional directors and high school students from different schools. They interviewed significant Czech figures active in various fields, such as music, film, theater, literature, journalism, design, architecture, visual arts, education, medicine, natural science, and sport. Persons both well known to the public and those yet unknown but achieving something significant in their field were approached.

Through the eyes of the young students, the viewers met people who shared their experience of how the iron curtain and particularly its fall affected their life on the threshold of adulthood. The young people addressed thus got an opportunity to share the views and experience they perceive as significant to their lives in the context of the fall of the Iron Curtain.

Successive documentaries were introduced to the public starting in September 2009 on Czech Television (channel ČT 1) and throughout the Opona, o.p.s. campaign. Documentaries are online on Czech Television websites and on www.nezapomente.cz. Wonderful years without the curtain are part of the FUTURAMA project in 2010.
