DO NOT FORGET!
June 7th: Opening of an exhibition
The departure of the Soviet Army is indisputably one of the most important moments of modern history of Czechoslovakia. It must be perceived in complex international relationships and it should not be overlooked that it was one of the first signals of the Soviet empire decline. From the point of view of the Czech a Slovak nations, however, the most important fact was the recovery of freedom and sovereignty of the state. Miserable and apathetic Soviet soldiers in the shabby communist - propaganda scene-setting represent not only a symbol of the beginning agony of the totalitarian system; it also brings about our sympathy with ordinary people, who often become just pawns in large-scale political games.
